Eye rolling. Door slamming. Loud sighing. Unexplained yelling. Everyone gets in bad moods sometimes – they are a part of life. Feeling cranky and irritable for no real reason can happen to the best of us. Here are some simple, effective methods for improving their state of mind:

  1. Read some inspirational quotes.
  2. Clean you your environment. De-clutter.
  3. Drinks Lots of Water. Stay Hydrated.
  4. Lighten up! Good lighting and brightness can bring up your mood.
  5. So something small that will make you feel productive.
  6. Take deep breaths. Meditate.
  7. Make sure your hygiene is in check.
  8. Wear something that you feel good on.
  9. Get some fresh air.
  10. Talk to someone, especially a friend you know will try to cheer you up. 
  11. Listen to some up beat happy music. Sing along and dance. 
  12. So some light exercise.
  13. So something that usually makes you happy.

  1. I’ve started to make a lists of past accomplishments. It’s a reminder of the progression of your life. Even the smallest accomplishment from years ago. It doesn’t matter, it’s still an accomplishment.

  5. I’ve learned this trick, but it’s counter intuitive. I sit with the bad mood. I just allow it. Its a challenge but way easier than trying to fix it or force it away.

    1. Yes that’s how negative automatic thought patterns are. But awareness is the first step, if you are aware of your deep NATS, it is easy to come out of them.

    1. Everyone gets in bad moods sometimes – they are a part of life. Feeling cranky and irritable for no real reason can happen to the best of us, but teens are particularly prone to these feelings. Persistent bad moods are not healthy – not for your teen or for their relationships. And unfortunately, sometimes, once you get used to being in a bad mood, it becomes a habit that is hard to break. The purpose of keeping such a title is to take out the frustration of bad mood.
