It’s important to make someone happy, and it’s important to start with yourself.  Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it is something you design into the present.

Starting today do these things to be more happier each day

  1. Find Happiness In Life. There are a lot of things that you should do to find happiness in life. Once you get there, it is even more challenging to stay happy every day.
  2. Don’t Dwell in the Past. The past is over and done with. There is no point in looking back at what happened and asking yourself “what if”.
  3. Don’t Remain Sedentary. As soon as you stop moving and living your life, that’s exactly when depression will set in. When you are unhappy, that is the worst time to give yourself a break and relax.
  4. Keep Yourself Busy. Keep yourself busy and you will be a happier person overall. The greatest of ways to keep yourself busy is to find your passion.
  5. Forgiveness is a Tool. Even if your feel they do not deserve it, forgiveness is a tool that will help you more than anyone else.
  6. Habits That You Should Avoid. There are a lot of things that you should avoid doing in order to get back to your old happy self and stay there forever.
  7. Forget Bad Things and Move Forward. When something bad happens in your past, the best thing you can do is forget about it and move forward.
  8. Don’t Stay In Bed Or Put Off Plans. Instead, get up early and exercise and find more social activities that you can include yourself in. The more you do, the harder it will be to spend time being unhappy.
  9. Don’t Hold Grudges. No matter who wronged you or what they did, there’s no point in holding a grudge. Holding a grudge will only make you more upset about what happened.
  10. Be Happy. The goal is for you to be happy and forgiving them is one of the steps you have to take in order to accomplish that.

Start Small. Start Today 🙂

  1. Excellent advice. Forget the past is what I’ve been told in therapy (several times before I got it right).

    1. Hold yourself with a “light hand.” Laugh at your foibles with amusement. When things get tough or stress arises, lift your shoulders with an “oh well…” Know that it’s never as big or life devastating as your mind thinks.
Happy people trust that whatever glitch happens will work itself out.
They give a “Ha! Ha!” and a “So what? Who cares? Big Deal! Why not?” when met with resistances.

    1. Give yourself permission. Permission to be who you are; permission to laugh big, to cry when you need to, to fail brilliantly, to make stuff; permission to fall apart, breakdown, and get back up again; permission to be different and unique; permission to go too far and reach your dreams.

    1. Happy people want to give back. They have plenty to share. They volunteer, take time out to help a friend, offer to connect people to others for their betterment, and aren’t in need of getting anything back. Commit to service but also stay aware of how to take care of yourself. When your energy gets depleted, remember to not give away to the point that you lose focus on your own emotional/mental/physical/spiritual health.
Have loving boundaries to care for yourself so that you have more to give.

    1. I used to think happiness was about being totally ecstatic. In order to balance out my feelings of hopelessness and depression, it seemed natural that my goal would be to be maximally blissed.
But with all the highs there’s a low—we eventually come down from it. Remember not to get attached to the highs and focus more on experiencing peaceful aliveness.
When your life is at peace, there’s a relaxed balance; and the chances of sustained happiness and contentment increases.

      1. Love the way you say it.
Balance is what we need. That flight or fight mode is unhealthy. Thanks to my blogging friend Ian over at Ace News Network, ive begun meditation. Ive learned that its then that we truly listen.
        Im glad you stopped by.
        Thank you.

I really love this. Number 6 really struck a chord for me. “Habits That You Should Avoid. There are a lot of things that you should avoid doing in order to get back to your old happy self and stay there forever.” It is so true that there are habits we should give up or avoid altogether. I know I am guilty of engaging in things that are not always the best for me.

    1. I learned happy people don’t fixate on themselves and their problems. They don’t over-analyze the issue du jour. When they start to get stuck on a problem or in their head, they put their attention on something else.
I remind myself to not have to have it all figured out: Get outside. Go back to your work. Plan something fun.

I often do this – overthinking and analyzing. It is truly to my detriment. When I do as you have said, and focus my attention elsewhere, that is when I find that I recover much more quickly. Good to know I am not alone. 🙂

    1. Although we may sometimes neglect to cultivate our own happiness, feeling happy is intrinsically important. If we are happy it has added knock on effects and benefits. These include us becoming more compassionate and feeling healthier both physically and emotionally. We become more creative, witty, energetic and fun to be around and it can also lead us to become more financially successful.
