Earth Meditation

Connect with the energies of Gaia by meditating outdoors. With your eyes closed, be aware of your body as it sits upon the bare earth. Feel Gaia’s steady presence beneath you and her grounding qualities. Listen to the beat of your heart pumping life blood around your body, and feel the air on your face and how your skin keeps you separate from everything around you.

Breathe in Life

Focus on your breathing. Contemplate how the inbreathe nourishes your blood, which carries nutrients to every cell of your body. Notice your out breath how the carbon dioxide you emit is breathed in by the plants, which in turn release oxygen. Allow yourself to feel at one with Gaia.

In meditation, become aware of the symbiotic relationship between yourself and plants.

  1. I enjoy walking in the woods. I enjoy sitting next to the stream watching tadpoles. I love hearing the birds sing. I hope I never forget how important these moments are. Thank you.

      Another study found in the journal Current Biology, shows that sleeping outdoors can help regulate your internal clock, or circadian rhythm, as you are typically going to bed with the sun and rising with the sun. This allows your body a proper amount of rest. Additionally, research published in the journal Anesthesiology shows that daylight (as opposed to artificial light) is an essential regulator of circadian rhythms. Disrupted circadian rhythms can contribute to physiological, cognitive, and other health consequences. While it is great to spend a night under the stars when you are able, it is healthy and beneficial to simply keep a routine of getting outside in the daylight during your lunch hour.       1. I agree. I do sleep when sun goes down. I wake before dawn. I find I sleep better by sticking to a pattern of sleep. I walk each day in the sun. These are simple and beneficial things I call life. I think people are to busy to enjoy the simple moments. Have a great day.
