Welcome to the Daily Dose of Self Love. This series will be about self love, self care, self esteem and self worth. Basically everything related with SELF. My aim with this series is to give you a daily boost of self love and self care. We all get busy with our lives and sometimes it leaves us less or no time to take time for ourselves, be with ourselves, wash off all the negativity that we accumulated during the day with self love, meditation, etc. The daily boost will be in an easy to understand and more importantly something which is relatable. So Welcome!!

Self Love Practice Tip #39

In today’s post we will continue our talk on learning to embrace pictures taken of you. I know of some people who have not stepped in front of the camera for years even though of them really want to take pictures of themselves. Being afraid to take your pictures makes you miss out on documenting your life moments. First of all, you are not alone, secondly, its okay to not want to take pictures, but if it is because of any kind of shame or judgement on how you look, here is something to ponder on. There are so many photo you look at on a daily basis, whether it is on the TV, social media, most of which are edited. In earlier days, when people read magazines, a lot, what they didn’t realise that the pictures in them were photoshopped. Now on social media like the Instagram, the game is to have the best photos for more likes and more followers. Hence everyone wants the most captivating photo and their so many apps for it now. What people don’t realise is that in the process of becoming famous or an influencer, they sometimes modify the truth. You must realise that most photos which are getting hundreds and thousands of likes are most likely edited or remastered by people who post them because all they want is to learn money. Don’t feel bad when you take a photo and it does not automatically look like the one on social media. You are beautiful despite all the flaws, the number of likes or any other measure you have in your mind. The beauty is that there is no measure. Be careful of what you are comparing yourself to. 3. Comparison can be ugly and unsettling

    1. Comparing ourselves to others allows them to drive our behavior. This type of comparison is between you and someone else. Sometimes it’s about something genetic, like wishing to be taller, but more often it’s about something the other person is capable of doing that we wish we could do as well.

      1. Well…at the end of the day comparison is not a good thing based on other things.

      2. Yes indeed. It’s not good if we’re just trying to gain a sense of superiority or avoiding challenging ourselves to do better. But such downward comparisons can remind us of our own fortune. They can also help us when we think about the things we regret but we cannot change.

I needed to hear this. I am so busy caring for everyone else I forget about my needs then I become so depleted that I become ill.
