Welcome to the Daily Dose of Self Love. This series will be about self love, self care, self esteem and self worth. Basically everything related with SELF. My aim with this series is to give you a daily boost of self love and self care. We all get busy with our lives and sometimes it leaves us less or no time to take time for ourselves, be with ourselves, wash off all the negativity that we accumulated during the day with self love, meditation, etc. The daily boost will be in an easy to understand and more importantly something which is relatable. So Welcome!!

Self Love Practice Tip #56

Today we will continue to talk about intuitive eating. Diet culture does not take into account overeating and binging of food that are fatty in nature. It occurs due to cravings. With intuitive eating when you see the importance of giving your body fuel. So even eating fatty foods when you are hungry is considered okay. Stop labelling your food as good or bad. When you label the food bad, you feel bad. You feel guilty and ashamed and then you want to punish yourself like do 50 extra burpees at the gym. Diets make you lose weight quick but once you stop doing it you start gaining that weight back and might end up having more weight. This is only because you are restricting and depriving your body of food or fuel whether it is good or bad. Why don’t we just eat, honour our hunger and respect our stomach when we are full. Diet culture is not self care or self love at all. It is only made for short term satisfaction and weight loss and not long lasting health which makes you believe that it is a vicious cycle when you are on these yo-yo diets of honouring your hunger.

Hope this helped. Come back tomorrow to learn about intuitive eating. Till then here’s more on intuitive eating > https://empress2inspire.blog/2021/02/24/daily-dose-of-self-love-55/

    1. Most welcome Nightmusic. The process of Intuitive Eating is a practice, which honors both physical and mental health. Intuitive Eating is aligned with Health at Every Size, because the pursuit of intentional weight loss is a failed paradigm, which creates health problems: including weight stigma, weight cycling, and eating disorders. All bodies deserve dignity and respect.

    1. Glad you liked the concept. Intuitive eating is a philosophy of eating that makes you the expert of your body and its hunger signals. Essentially, it’s the opposite of a traditional diet. It doesn’t impose guidelines about what to avoid and what or when to eat.
