Social Anxiety

Social anxiety disorder is characterised by an intense and persistent fear of being observed and judged by others. This anxiety can interfere with work, school, and other daily activities. Social Anxiety can show up as :

  • Over preparing for social situations
  • Nervous rambling & over sharing
  • Cancelling at the last minute
  • Excessive substance use to make social interactions easier
  • Feelings inadequate or awkward
  • Physical symptoms : sweating, rapid heart rate, hyperventilating
  • Replaying past conversations and situations in your head
  • Expecting things to go wrong
  • Feeling like everyone is looking at you and judging you
  • Interpreting other people’s response in a negative way
  • Anticipatory anxiety before socialising
  • Being heavily critical of yourself after social situations

  2. I suffer from social anxiety. But I’m actually pretty social, once I’m comfortable.
