Welcome to the Daily Dose of Self Love. This series will be about self love, self care, self esteem and self worth. Basically everything related with SELF. My aim with this series is to give you a daily boost of self love and self care. We all get busy with our lives and sometimes it leaves us less or no time to take time for ourselves, be with ourselves, wash off all the negativity that we accumulated during the day with self love, meditation, etc. The daily boost will be in an easy to understand and more importantly something which is relatable. So Welcome!!
Self Love Practice Tip #65
Today we will talk about body positivity. Diet culture has stripped our enjoyment of food and also with exercising. When you have to follow strict exercising routines with the only goals being weight loss, the motivation easily slips away. Something I like to do at the gym is getting on the elliptical and I remember hearing from a fitness guru that if I can easily talk or have a conversation while I am on the elliptical that I wasn’t working hard enough. So I would go to the gym and every time I would get on the elliptical I would think about what this fitness guru said and talk to myself and say “I can easily have a conversation while I can do workouts” and then I would start shaming myself, put myself down by saying things to myself like “You are not working hard” and other diet culture phrases like “No pain, no gain.” or “No days off” and then I would get overwhelmed. I personally have never liked intense workouts. I don’t like running, I never have and I never will. I am a person if you see me running, you should be concerned and start running too..because of danger..haha. I am aware that diet culture participants call me lazy and say that I am not willing to work hard or not willing to put in the work of having that beautiful body and I would say screw you.
Come back tomorrow for more inspiration on body positivity.
