Keep Going, Keep Surviving

It does get better, kid, I promise you that,
Keep going, keep moving forward, no matter how hard.
The world is vast, and you’re still so young,
But trust me, you’ll be okay, your song will be sung.

For every person who drags you down, my dear,
There are a hundred more ready to lift you up, clear.
You have much to learn and much to teach,
People to love, and hands to reach.

You live to grow, to question, and observe,
To educate, help, inspire, and serve.
You live to show the next generation the way,
To love and respect themselves, every single day.

You live because life is precious, don’t you see,
Once you’re gone, there’s no taksies-backsies.
No second chances, no more time to borrow,
So wake up, keep moving, survive each tomorrow.

Even when you don’t want to, my dear,
Keep surviving, find your own reasons to cheer.
Find your own reasons to wake up with the sun,
To keep moving forward, until the battle is won.

Keep surviving until it’s not just surviving anymore,
Until you’re truly alive, your spirit will soar.

Through the darkest nights, the tough fights we face,
Keep surviving, my friend, find your own grace.
One day, you’ll look back, and realize it’s true,
You’ve transformed, you’ve thrived, and life’s bloomed anew.

  1. Once you’re gone, there’s no taksies-backsies.
No second chances, no more time to borrow,
So wake up, keep moving, survive each tomorrow. Perhaps the “First Chance” lasts forever…

      1. “Perhaps” can be used in a hopeful sense to suggest possibility, or in a doubtful sense to suggest uncertainty. One of the two suggested meanings seems more humble than the other…

      1. I have my moments, but there’s a sadness behind the joy sometimes. It’s the human condition, I think.
