Cold Busting Remedies Part 2

From a runny nose to a sore throat, you’ll find that most of the ailments associated with colds can be cured using simple herbal treatments.

Fragrant Bath

Run a deep, warm bath to ensure a restful night’s sleep, and scent with the gentle soothing herbs of lavender and roman camomile. Add 4-5 drops of each essential oil and swirl into the water with your hand. Both are safe and completely natural sedatives, helping to calm the mind and restore fatigued muscles.

Pain Relief

For extra relaxation and meditation add a few drops of marjoram oil, especially when suffering from a persistently painful headache. You can also use geranium oil to reduce the effects of restlessness. Sleep cab be further aided by adding any combination of these oils to a vaporiser in the bedroom or placing them in a small bowl of water under the radiator. Run a bath and fragrance with naturally relaxing oils such as geranium to cure sleeplessness.

Cold Chasers – Chase away a lingering cough and sore throat with a soothing honey, lemon and ginger cordial

Lemon and Herbs
Pour 1 litre of boiling water into a jug containing a sliced lemon, three tablespoons of organic honey and a knob of grated root ginger. Once the picture has thoroughly cooled, strain and sip throughout the day.

The honey will ease a sore throat and induce a restful and undisturbed sleep, the lemon will help to ward off infection and the warming effect of ginger will stimulate the circulation and restore vitality to your body.

Honey is the perfect addition to any cold and flu remedy because of its soothing and healing properties.
