Welcome fellow souls to « The Human Family Crash Course Series, » a new project collaborated together by empress2inspire.blog and dios-raw.com. Together we will be working on a different topic for each crash course; our eighth topic is focused on «Death». Each topic will have ten posts with posts on Mondays and Thursdays. We hope you enjoy our series and we look forward to knowing how our posts have inspired you!

When your soul chooses to finish this chapter in it’s journey with a natural cause of death, how much input does your body and personality have?

Samadhi, to die with a balanced, detached mind is accepted in all religions of India. Hinduism also welcomes such death. The word Samadhi has been derived from sam+ dhaa both are prefixes.  Dha is a root verb. (Samadhan) means  balanced where  both the  sides are equal,  a measure  of balance, it is Samadhan contentment. Samadhi is such a state where the power of  Atman is manifested. Hence it will be pure mind, intellect and therefore our conduct. There is no ‘I’ in sleep, there is only the experience of bliss, thus we say that the nature of  Atman is bliss. Thus the consciousness which is beyond material-sheath,   (annamaya  kosha),   vital-sheath  (Pranamaya   Kosha)  and   mental-sheath (Manomaya-kosha) and which is engrossed in  self-knowledge is Samadhi.

Samadhi is a state of inner equilibrium and tranquility of mind. This state is described as

the state of Sthitaprajna (man of steadfast wisdom) in the last 18 verses of the second chapter of the Bhagavad Gita.  To die with such a state of mind is considered as Marana Samadhi  in Hindu tradition. Samadhi which is mentioned in yoga-sutra is Dhyana- Samadhi. It is also a kind of modification(Vrtti).

People on the spiritual path choose the time, date and place of their death. It can often appear that people choose the moment to die. The yogi always wants to know the time and date of death ahead of time. He fixes it. Many years ahead he says, “On this date, at this time I will leave,” and he leaves, because he has created the necessary awareness within himself to leave consciously. Leaving this body consciously without damaging this body, like you take off your clothes and walk away, you take off your body and walk away, if you can do that, that is the ultimate possibility in your life. If your awareness has grown to such a point that you know where you as a being and this physical body which you gathered are connected, then you can disentangle yourself whenever the moment is right for you.
