In today’s post we will learn how to live a minimalist life. People want options to live a life of minimalism. They need guidance on how to start. They claim to be lost, overwhelmed and claim for directions. These people are just lazy, they don’t want to make an effort to practice minimalism and hence they want options. This presents a double bind though. You see options are great until you have too many. It leads to paralysis by analysis. So where to stat on being minimalist in life? Here are some “options” how based on the intensity :
Extreme – It is the most difficult and the most easy option out of the three. It is not for most people. So here goes. Just have two bags worth of clothes. There is nothing wrong with it.
Moderate – Pack your stuff up, all of it. Then unpack all your stuff that you need over the course of next week. Discard everything else there after. This option takes about a day of your life but you can actually have a lot of fun doing it. This option also works best for single people and for couple with one or no children. It is however, do much for some people to handle at first.
Conservative – We call this the Joshua Becker approach. Start with one room and take baby steps towards your goal.
Whichever option you chose, the most important part is to take action. Once you have taken a decision, you should take action. You should never leave the scene of a good idea without taking some action. And you action can change overtime too. Getting rid of things you don’t want or decluttering can do wonders on your mental health.
