To The One Who Got Away
Meeting you was serendipity at its best. Suddenly, the clichés about everything being “written in the stars” didn’t seem so corny anymore. From Peter Andre’s “Mysterious Girl” when you waltz into my life to Maroon 5’s “She will be loved”, you were like a whirlwind who showered me with love & kindness I didn’t know I needed, with a sincerity I didn’t even know existed.
At the risk of gnawing at my vulnerability and pride, I want to tell you that I am sorry I didn’t have more courage when we were younger. I knew I would never find a nobler soul than you. I was still a child and even though I recognised the genuinity and passion of it all, I apologise for not having the mental or moral strength to go through with it.
I often wonder how you are, and since you are a hard man to find, I want to believe you are happy and well, because it’s what you deserve. You have been with me on my journey, and I still think of you – in happiness & in sorrow. Unconditionally, and ironically, unrestrained.
It’s easy to find potential in before
But we look the same in the afters
Lyrics from We Could Run Away ~ Need to Breathe
This is wishful thinking and asinine dreaming, but you only live once..so I am going to go out on a limb here and say that I will love you right this time if by any stroke of luck there is a chance. If this finds you, reach-out, even if to tell me you are happy and well.
In the words of Beethoven, “Ever thine, ever mine, ever ours.” Know that you will always have a home in my heart. I wish you all the best.
