Tips for Being Light Hearted

The arguments for approaching life in a grave, serious and unsmiling mood are overwhelming: we are clearly a profoundly wicked species, we continually perpetrate monstrous suffering on one another, our greed and viciousness know no bounds, our minds are fickle and largely out of control, no one gets through existence unscathed and everyday is bad until – eventually – the worst of all happens. The only people one could imagine smiling through this kind of horror show would be the still-too innocent or the actively deluded.

Lightheartedness is about balance, finding a place between complete seriousness and being utterly carefree. It’s about controlling your emotions rather than letting them get the better of you. In this sense, trying to be more lighthearted is one of the best gifts you can give yourself.

Here are few ways in which you can stay light headed :

  • Smile to become instantly more likeable, attractive, and approachable.
  • Laugh whenever possible.
  • Feel. You should accept your own and others feelings.
  • Let go of things you can’t control.
  • Accept yourself and others as perfectly imperfect.
  • Enjoy yourself as much as possible.
  • Create surprises with pleasant acts of care and cheer yourself up.

Whenever you learn to be a light hearted person you get your wings to fly like a free bird in the sky.

  4. Great post here friend. I like your point about “lightheartedness” as a way to find balance. I could not have said it better myself. To add, a great way to stay lighthearted is to work on our relationship with God. When we read more about God, and connect with his word (the Bible), there is an active reformation of our minds, and our character.

The Bible says in Galatians 5:22
“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness”.

We also know that God is looking out for us, and that he is never going to forsake us.

    God says in Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope”.

The Bible says in Romans 8:28
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them”.

These words should help to put our minds at ease. These words are just a few of the many promises that God has made to us in the Bible. God is the one we follow, not the world, not what others say, but God. That is the light in the darkness.

If you or anyone interested wants more information on how to connect with God, I have a post on it here:
