Winter can be a depressing times of illness, unpleasant weather and very little growth, but you can avoid the winter blues by making the most of what’s available.
Warding off winter colds
Strengthen your body’s immune system to make sure it is able to protect itself by boosting its own defences, include citrus fruit in your daily diet to ensure high levels of vitamin C, the most important vitamin for fighting winter colds.
Quick Boosts
If you feel that you might be coming down with a cold, give your immune system a headful short term boost with echinacea, astragalus or ginger. You can also employ herbs and essential oils that have antiviral properties, such as St. John’s wort and liquorice. Try a vapour rub made of tea tree and lavender to combat a sniffly nose.
Citrus fruits contain high levels of vitamin C, which boosts defence when colds threaten.
