Buddhism is based on four basic tenets : Compassion, Mindfulness, Wisdom & Ethics.
Here are four noble truths of Buddhism :
- Dukkha – Dukkha is a part of living. Dukkha of often translated as suffering, disease or stress.
- Cause – There are causes to our sufferings, namely craving and delusion or ignorance.
- Cessation – Through the abandoning of clinging, cessation of dukkha is possible in our lives.
- The Path – The Noble Eightfold Path is the way to cease dukkha and liberate oneself from suffering.
What is the noble eightfold path of Buddhism :
- View – Wise view is seeing clearly, especially in regards to the three marks of excellence.
- Intention – Wise intention is the intention to cultivate liberation and not cause harm to other beings.
- Speech – Wise speech is speaking in a way that creates liberation and does not create suffering.
- Livelihood – Wise livelihood is earning a living without engaging in harmful businesses.
- Effort – Wise effort is the cultivation of healthy seeds and abandonment of unwholesome ones.
- Action – Wise action is acting with kind wisdom, and not causing or endorsing harm.
- Mindfulness – Wise mindfulness is the practice of the Four Foundations, or cultivation of clarity.
- Concentration – Wise concentration is the cultivation of a collected mind and the states of jhana.
