Daily Dose of Self Love

Welcome to the Daily Dose of Self Love. This series will be about self love, self care, self esteem and self worth. Basically everything related with SELF. My aim with this series is to give you a daily boost of self love and self care. We all get busy with our lives and sometimes it leaves us less or no time to take time for ourselves, be with ourselves, wash off all the negativity that we accumulated during the day with self love, meditation, etc. The daily boost will be in an easy to understand and more importantly something which is relatable. So Welcome!!

Self Love Practice Tip #101

In today’s post we will continue to talk about how to feel comfortable in your own skin. We need to view ourselves as people first and our bodies second. We have to stop viewing ourselves are objects and if we want to smash the patriarchy and the change the future of how women are treated, we have to start with ourselves. When we view ourselves as objects, we complete with other people, we compare ourselves with other people and try to fit in what society says a person should look like to decorate the world as an ornament. People, specially women are not ornament to be decorated and hung somewhere to look at. We, women are people who are smart, courageous, hard working and so much more. Just being a mother is just incredible. Think about it, have you ever given up something that you love because of the way you have looked? Do you constantly think about your appearance instead of your goals and dreams or you think about your parents and not have goals or dreams. If so then please remember that you are doing yourself a disservice because you can offer the world so much more. And this is tough and hard to realise because so many people do not even know that they are self objectifying and that society has been self objectifying so harshly. In the past and even know, women are still being objectified and there are definitely men out there who feel that women should have a place which is beneath them and it is sad and it is hard and it is important that you become aware of this.

Come back tomorrow for more inspiration.

I have been forced to do self care this past year due to only having one kidney working and it only works about 30 percent. I need that 30 percent since I feel like there is more for me to do. More women to help with their walk with God, more young women to teach, more people to love. Yet I know I must slow down and take care of me too. It’s not an easy thing to do I am finding. You have encouraged me.

  4. The comparison trap is so easy to fall into! Thank you so much for taking the time to encourage us to see beyond just the physical 🙂

You can control one life—yours. But when we constantly compare ourselves to others, we waste precious energy focusing on other peoples’ lives rather than our own. Comparisons often result in resentment. Resentment towards others and towards ourselves.

      1. So very true. I just had a dream recently in which I know God was speaking to me about this very subject. In the dream I was comparing myself to one of my loved ones in an exaggerated way. But He was gently and lovingly speaking to my heart about being free from this, so this is another great reminder!
