In traditional herbal medicine Turmeric is known as the “warming plant”.
Turmeric is extracted from the root of the Curcuma Long Plant Native to Indian. The active ingredient of Turmeric is called Curcumin. - Turmeric can be used to enrich the skin. It is tradition that brides and grooms apply turmeric to their skin in preparation for the wedding.
- Turmeric has been linked to the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease. One study looked at turmeric packed curry consumption and correlated it against the results of a memory exam. Those that rarely ate curry fared poorly in the test of memory.
- Turmeric is championed as one of nature’s best anti inflammatories. turmeric inhibits the work of Cycloxegenase 2 (COX-2), which causes inflammation. Studies have shown that curcumin reduces joint inflammation by up to 78%.
- Turmeric has been linked to improved cardiovascular health. Coronary bypass patients were given 4g of curcumin or placebo doses before and after surgery. They found that these consuming curcumin had a 65% reduced risk of having a cardiovascular event.
