Treatments for Period Pains
Use aromatherapy body rubs, bath oils, compresses and vapours to combat the physical and emotional symptoms caused by period pains and PMS.
Therapeutic Aroma Baths
Adding a few drops of essential oil to a steaming bath is one of the most pleasurable treatments for OMS and period pains :
- 5-6 drops of antispasmodic oils such as chamomile will work with the heat of the water to relieve abdominal muscle cramps and backache.
- A bath containing rose or geranium oil will lift the mood for PMS sufferers.
Aroma Bath Tips
- Use only 5-6 drops of oil, adding once the bath is run. Disperse oils in 5ml carrier oil or for some luxury, in 10ml of full cream milk.
- Ensure a warm room and subdued lighting for serious therapeutic bathing.
Aromatherapy oils will help to relax the muscle responsible for period pain.
