Treatments for Period Pains
Use aromatherapy body rubs, bath oils, compresses and vapours to combat the physical and emotional symptoms caused by period pains and PMS.
Pain Relieving Compress
A hot aromatherapy compress applies to the abdomen or lower back will give soothing pain relief from muscle spasms. To create a compress :
- Add 4-6 drops of essential oil to 500ml of hot water.
- Place a clean face cloth on top of the water to absorb all of the essential oils.
- Wring out any excess water from the compress.
- Apply, refreshing with a new compress regularly.
Night-Time Pain Relief
For effective night time relief from period pain, simply wrap a hot water bottle in a towel, sprinkled with several drops of lavender and sleep with it over the abdomen area. A cool compress with a few drops of sage and chamomile oil will relieve menstrual headaches.
