Intuitive eating is considered a healthy approach to food intake. It allows you to heal from food stigmas caused by chronic dieting. Intuitive eating is said to be normal, healthy eating as it should be. We were born to eat intuitively, but somehow this natural way to enjoy food got lost in all the rules and restrictions surrounding our diet. The great news is that getting back to intuitive eating is possible for everyone. Understanding the philosophy of intuitive eating will be the first step to eating this way.

Here are a few principles of Intuitive Eating :

  • Reject the diet mentally. Get rid of all the stupid apps and Pinterest pins that promise you that you will lose 20lbs in two weeks and keep it off. Be pissed off at all of the lies that have told you that you are a failure because you dieted and it didn’t work, or you have just gained all of the weight back.
  • Honour your hunger. Biologically your body requires energy, and that energy comes through the food you fuel it with. If you don’t keep your body furled you can cause an instinctual reaction to over eat what is in front of you when it is available. The moment your body reached a point of being overly hungry, all ability to eat moderately and consciously go out of the window.
  • Make peace with food – Stop fighting food it isn’t the enemy. You have permission to wear food. Give it to yourself. If there are those whispers that tell you that you can’t or shouldn’t have a certain kind of foods, it triggers the instinctual response of desperately wanting what we can’t have.

    1. Haha sorry, here it is : Intuitive eating is an eating style that promotes a healthy attitude toward food and body image. The idea is that you should eat when you’re hungry and stop when you’re full. Though this should be an intuitive process, for many people it’s not.

  2. And make sure to chew as much as you can. When you chew more, you get to eat only what you need.

    1. True. People can forget to chew their food or get into the habit of swallowing before they’ve fully chewed it. People who take bites that’re too big or too small might not be chewing food properly.
Chewing is not only an important part of the digestive process but it’s also beneficial to overall health. People who don’t chew their food well enough before they swallow often develop digestive problems.
