Herbal Remedies for Autumn Healing
The beginning of autumn brings with it a change in temperature. Prepare yourself for the cold months ahead with some herbal remedies.
As the days shorten and the leave begin to change colour, we start to wind down after a hectic summer of outdoor activity. It is important not to slip into a routine of stodgy comfort food and evenings curled up in front of the telly, however, a combination of warming and healthy foods, herbal tonics and exercise will help maintain physical vitality and immunity. Creative projects and activities are also vital in maintaining a stimulated and active mind.
Herbs to Warm Your Body
The damp weather of autumn signals the first colds of the season. Antiviral aromatherapy oils such as tea tree can help boost your immune system, as can herbal remedies such as echinacea tea. The damp air can also trigger rheumatic aches and pains. It is important to keep supple to alleviate this and, again, herbal remedies such as ginger or juniper oils can help to improve circulation and reduce inflammation.
Use herbal remedies to protect yourself against autumnal conditions such as rheumatism and the common cold.
Causes of Autumn Ailments
A good awareness of the most common reasons for autumn maladies is an important step in avoiding their effects and making sure that you don’t wind down with the seasons.
- The sudden change in temperature that takes place between summer and autumn leaves us vulnerable to chills. It can also make us feel lethargic and run down.
- Damp weather, combined with centrally heated buildings, encourages viruses to breed. This makes cold and flu viruses much more common and more difficult to avoid.
- As we return from our summer holidays, we bring back new, often more potent, viruses to which we have little immunity.
Indulge in seasonal fruits and vegetables to maintain your health.

I enjoy home-made smoothies with all kinds of fruit mixed with flavoured alternative milk drinks – water melon, blueberries, apples and pears are my favourites. I notice a marked difference in the way I feel in the winter once we have to use the central heating a lot, so I think lots of drinks help to keep us hydrated.

Yes Nirmal. Yellow is such a fun and beautiful color. It’s the color and the sun and it brightens up any interior, no matter now dull it is. This also makes it a perfect color for the living room. Yellow living room designs are very beautiful and they are great especially during the summer.

Hi, this season, I’ve been trying essential oils, such as peppermint and cinnamon. I put them in a diffuser, it makes me feel relaxed and focus. It helps tremendously.

Essential oils have been used for health and medicinal purposes for many years. These oils are produced by extraction or distillation of various parts of plants. Each oil offers great mental, physical and emotional health benefits. Essential oils are being used for different purposes like detoxification, anti-viral therapy, anti-depressant, anti-bacterial and many more. Essential oils have always been used initially for medicinal purposes, but now they are slowly being used in daily life as well. With the ever-growing costs of medical bills, using a few essential oils in daily life can help you prevent or treat ailments in a cost effective and natural manner

Very calming indeed. Autumn offers a wide range of photographic opportunities for those who love colorful but moody days. With the quickly changing scenery, colorful landscapes and shorter days, it’s not hard to understand why it’s the favorite season of so many photographers.
