I Take My Own Responsibility

on

I recognise that many decisions will be required of me throughout my life, such as where I want to live, who I want to live with, where I work, how much fun I have, and how I spend my money and time, including how much time I spend waiting for things to improve and people to change, and whom I choose to love.

I understand that many events will be beyond my control and that all decisions I make carry inherent dangers and risks. Life and people have no obligation to live up to my expectations, and I have no obligation to live up to anyone else’s expectations. Life is a high-risk sport, and I could get hurt along the way.

I agree that all of my decisions are mine and mine alone, including how I choose to deal with events beyond my control. I hereby waive my right to seek redress as a victim, including the right to blame, complain, and whine, or to hold someone else accountable for the path I choose. I am accountable for my participation—or lack thereof—in life. And I accept full responsibility for the outcomes and consequences of every decision I make, knowing that it is ultimately my choice whether I become happy, joyful, and free or remain miserable and trapped.

Although others may voluntarily nurture and love me, I am solely responsible for caring for and loving myself.
