We so often use salt in our dishes that black peppercorns often lie forgotten. But the benefits of black pepper are far better. Black peppercorns, more commonly called black pepper, dramatically enhance the taste of your dishes – and their health quotient too. Like table salt, black pepper has its unexpectedly handy uses that goes beyond seasoning your meals at the dining table.
Here is a list of non cooking uses of black pepper :
- Keep ants away. Sprinkle black pepper on counter tops to keep ants from invading your home.
- Keep coloured clothes bright. Add a teaspoon of black pepper to your washer containing a load of coloured clothes, which will help keep the fabric coolers bright.
- Natural pest control in the garden. Mix black pepper with flour and sprinkle mixture around your plants.
- Stop bleeding on a minor cut. Thoroughly rinse the cut > Elevate the body part where the cut is so located and dab bleeding with a clean, stripe cloth or paper towel > Sprinkle ground black pepper on the cut and bandage securely. For Deep cuts with heavy bleeding, seek professional medical attention right away.
- Treat your sinus infection. While back pepper is great for adding flavour to your meals, it also helps fight sinus infections. Drink healthy hot soups and add a lot of back and cayenne pepper.
- Temporarily seal a leaking radiator in your car before taking it to a repair shop. If you pour a spice rack size container of black pepper into the radiator, it will flow into the split or pinhole and plug the leak.
- Treat sore muscles and aches. Mix together 1/3 cup raw honey and 2.5 teaspoons turmeric and place in bottom of mug. Add hot water, lemon juice and a generous amount of ground black pepper. Drink to treat body aches.
