“The only thing that you have control over is your mind.” ~ Napoleon Hill
Your goal in life should be to feel good. And having a positive mental attitude is the only way to meet this goal. So if you want to change the circumstances of your life you need not worry about what’s going on in the world or what other people are doing. The only thing that you need to worry about is tending to your own mind and thoughts.
We are all meant to be successful and to receive all that we want and desire and thinking negatively will hold you back from obtaining what you want. The way you’ve been thinking is a reflection of everything that you have attracted into your life thus far. Always remember your thoughts are the only thing that you can control, and by practicing a positive mental attitude is the first step in changing your life for the better.
But there is a thin line between denial and having a positive mental attitude. You can tell by how you feel. Denial doesn’t feel good. Lining up with the energy of what you want, does. Denial is pretending to feel good, while you’re actually feeling bad. Think what gives you happiness and most importantly don’t seek any kind of validation from anyone but you for the way you feel. You are your best friend!!
Wise words. Thanks for the reminder.

Thank you so much for visiting my page. I am following your blog now. I really like this post. You are so right. Not many believe that they can make it in the world. It took me many years to become more positive about life and what I was capable of. I knew from a very young age that I was very different from a lot of people around me.
I never looked down on anyone, but inside I felt different. I felt that I didn’t have anything in common with most people. I use to go into my room sometimes when people visit my mother. I hardly got involve in conversations, because most topics didn’t relate to anything that I was thinking about. This also kept happening through my adult life as well.
I hardly have anything in common with anyone else and when I read posts like yours or other positive books I feel that I belong in this positive world. Not many of us can make a difference, but through the internet we can let others know hey there are different ways of thinking than the day to day struggles. Lay your hat down and read more. We are not alone when we think the way we do.

This is truth so simple and clear; but to many it is not so obvious. You’re the beacon through which many will see this truth and, hopefully, act on it. “The only thing that you need to worry about is tending to your own mind and thoughts.”, what a revelation. “You are your best friend!!”, splendid.

Thank you, normapadro, for your comment given here. I read it in tears. Everything you say in it also applies to me. I shall bear in mind this statement of yours: “Lay your hat down and read more. We are not alone when we think the way we do.”

Thanks for mentioning the denial part. I have long had a difficult time with the “change your attitude” concept when I see an injustice that must be addressed. “Oh, let it pass.” “Protect yourself. Don’t make waves.” “Just get over it.” “Smile anyway.” There is a time and place for each of those, but not always. Anger and frustration help us identify needs that are not being met and can push us to take positive action, if we let them.
Still, I know full well how useful a change in attitude (and usually scenery) is when things over which I have little control get me down. Going for a walk almost always changes my mood and strengthens my soul, even when something terrible happens.
Thank you for this reminder. It’s good to come across it early on a Sunday morning–like a homily to give me courage and strength throughout the day.

Hi Empress,
I love there verse that says, Guard your heart and mind above all else. We do get attacked in those two vital places 247. I thank God that he protects both because it is a cruel world out there. I hope you get that peace of mind you are looking for inspire of the craziness out there.
Thanks for sharing,
Gary

Control over your thoughts, what a novel idea. I’m at the mercy of mine at the moment and I’m driving myself crazy. But I’ll get over it.
