The family can be a source of true joy and love. Family relationships offer us unconditional support and are important for every member of the family unit.

Families that come together and share positive experiences build strong family relationships. They cultivate a strong family bond by experiencing positive emotions and uniting through common family goals. Here are some of the tips for some family rituals that you can do as a team to improve bonding :

  • Activities that teach responsibility such as assign each family member a specific task when setting the table, create a rotating chore chart on a whiteboard that changes each Sunday, choose a particular time each week when the entire family comes together to clean the house or the garden, find projects that the entire family can collaborate on.
  • Activities that promote kindness and compassion such as practice self meditation and think of your loved ones and send them positive thoughts about safety, happiness and health. Find place to volunteer as a family. Also you can have each family member share one kind thing that they did that day.
  • Activities that boost positivity such as family cuddle time, when everyone arrives home, pile into bed or couch together and cuddle for five minutes. Encourage each family member to share the high and low points of the day, and then anything else they would like to share.
  • Activities to build strong family connections such as say wish goodnight and good morning to each other, tell them that you love them. Have each family member contribute something to dinner preparation even if it is cutting salad or filling up water.
  • Activities to develop a sense of belonging such as create special messages for each other and send on WhatsApp or any other means. Go on monthly walks together. Keep a gratitude jar throughout the year. Make a special cake or dish for each family member’s birthday. Sing songs together no matter how good or bad singer you are. It’s fun.

    1. The main reason why family time is important is because you need to develop ties and bond with your family. Often kids decide to join gangs or groups because they welcome them in, to become a part of their family. Spending family time together ensures that a deep, strong, family bond develops.

    1. Building forts, sharing stories, and just being together makes a difference in all of your lives. Family bonding time builds confidence, teaches children about interacting with others, and create wonderful memories that last a lifetime. Setting aside a time to have weekly family bonding activities is crucial.

  3. In agreement with all those points. For us what works is…
We all eat at the dining table each evening, away from the tv. Includes breakfast and lunch on weekends. Board games or a card game at least twice a week where possible. When time permits I’ll join my teenage at the gym with him, go watch him play his matches. For the little one help out weekends with coaching…
Appreciate everyone has their constraints and we are not without them. But at the most simplest we make sure we are constantly ‘involved’ with the kids. If something needs fixing then round the table debate…

    1. These are such wonderful activities. Thank you for sharing them with us. Kids really appreciate (even though they seldom show or say) their parents presence around. They feel supported and cherished. Thank you again.

    1. Family is important because it provides love, support and a construction of principles to each of its people. Family members coach each other, serve each other and show life’s joys and sorrows. Individuals provide a placing for personal expansion. Family is the single most important affect in a child’s life.
