The Prodigal Son and Yoga

Do you remember the story of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32)? The son decides to leave the father. He spends his inheritance and leads a chaotic life until he has nothing to eat anymore. When he returns to his father, his father welcomes him back. The father is like the higher soul while the prodigal son is like the incarnated soul who has forgotten his home, his spiritual origin. Have you not observed that when you meditate, sometimes you experience that you are back “home”?

Soul realisation is nothing more than the incarnated soul realising that it is not the body and it is one with the higher soul. This is the meaning of yoga or illumination.

When the prodigal son returns, there is divine union. This is called yoga. Yoga literally means “union”. The purpose of yoga is to achieve union between the incarnated soul and the higher soul. This union is actually a science, not just an art. It is a spiritual technology. Soul realisation is nothing more than the incarnated soul realising that it is not the body and it is one with the higher soul. This is the meaning of yoga or illumination.

    1. The word “Yoga” essentially means, “that which brings you to reality”. Literally, it means “union.” Union means it brings you to the ultimate reality, where individual manifestations of life are surface bubbles in the process of creation. Right now, a coconut tree and a mango tree have popped up from the same earth. From the same earth, the human body and so many creatures have popped up. It is all the same earth.

  4. Wow, I really love this explanation. I’ve always known yoga means union but only focused on the external bit of it, alignment with the universe. Your explanation brings in a new perspective which makes perfect sense and gives me a better understanding. Thank you so much for this article.

      1. True. Might you have any other explanations such as this in relation to the Bible teachings? I would really appreciate them, understanding in different perspectives the many hidden meanings In the Bible and interpretations of the parables.

Difficult to find true and devoted yogi in this materialistic world, who can assist you in this pathway once your “serpent energy”,”kundalini shakti ” become awakened.I have personally meet two of siddh yogi in my life.one is “chunriwala mataji”( yogi prahlad jani) staying at Ambaji, Banaskantha, Gujarat, india.Second one in girnar.Best of luck on journey to yog💐💐💐💐💐💐
