Because iced coffee is just hot coffee in denial.

There’s absolutely no pressure to buy anything, but if you do, it genuinely helps support the time and love I put into writing these posts.

I still remember the first time I tried cold brew—it was summer, I was half-awake, and a friend handed me a glass that was like a sweet, smooth hug in a cup. I was instantly hooked, thinking, “Why was I ever warming things up to cool them down?”

So, here are six cold brew recipes I make depending on my mood, energy level, and whether I’ve actually done laundry this week. Spoiler: often I haven’t.

1. Basic Smooth Cold Brew

I start with the Takeya Tritan Cold Brew Coffee Maker—super easy, dishwasher‑safe, and only about $16 on Amazon. It’s basically the gateway drug for cold brew lovers  .

I toss in coarse grounds, fill it with cold water, let it chill overnight, and by morning, I’ve got the clean, smooth flavor that’s my daily hug in a mug.

2. Mini Batch for One

Some mornings I’m running out the door. For those, I grab my Hario Mizudashi Cold Brew Coffee Pot—compact, fridge-friendly, perfect for just one person (i.e., me, still in pajamas)  .

It’s small, simple, and makes enough to get my brain in gear before I spill coffee on my shirt.

3. Off-the-Grid, On-the-Go Cold Brew

On a good day, I leave the house prepared—crazy, I know—and take my Asobu Coldbrew Portable Cold Brew Coffee Maker with me. Vacuum insulated and spill-proof, it’s my trusty sidekick during park walks  .

Press a button, and bam—I’m caffeinated without burning my fingers juggling the car keys.

4. High-Tech & Efficient

If I’m feeling fancy and impatient, I turn to the Westinghouse Portable Cold Brew Coffee Maker. Battery-powered, USB-C rechargeable, and brews in just 15 minutes—that’s faster than my brain on Monday morning  .

I use it when I’d like caffeine pronto, with zero hassle, and minimal judgment from myself.

5. Classic, Rain-maker Style Cold Brew

Sometimes, I want to pretend I’m a barista. That’s when I reach for the OXO Good Grips Cold Brew Coffee Maker—it’s got a “Rainmaker” top that evenly wets the grounds and a Brew‑Release switch for smooth control  .

It makes me feel fancy, even if I’m still in a T‑shirt that says “I need coffee.”

6. No-Equipment, Lazy-Person Cold Brew Bags

On truly zero-effort days? Cold brew bags are my go-to. I just steep one overnight—zero gadgets, zero guilt. I could even forget I made it and find it days later, still fine. It’s basically a little caffeine miracle.

A Few Fun Extras to Try:

• Add a splash of vanilla almond milk and a drizzle of honey—instant café-level treat, no tipping required.

• Drop a couple of mint leaves in the next batch—hello, refreshing vibe.

• If I’m feeling wild, I’ll mix in a teaspoon of chocolate syrup. Cold brew meets dessert? Yes, please.

Every one of these recipes flows from when I balked at paying $5 for a single Starbucks cup. Once I discovered the Takeya, it hit me—making your own is easy, cheaper, and somehow tastes brag‑worthy at brunch with friends  . I mean, “I made this” sounds way cooler than “I paid a lot for this.”

And that’s basically the story: from sleepy batches of brew in the fridge to portable power for the wild days, there’s a cold brew recipe—and an Amazon product—for every kind of morning. Try one, or try them all—I won’t judge if you line them up like trophies. Your taste buds—and your wallet—will thank you.

  2. Love this! I have the hot/cold brew Keurig. When I’m feeling really naughty, I’ll add a little chocolate, a little hazelnut, and a little caramel. Tastes just like a Snicker’s bar!
