When things aren’t going your way, it’s easy to blame them on external factors. It’s easy to blame others instead of taking responsibility for yourself. When things don’t go your way, it’s easy to become frustrated, discouraged, and lose sight of your happiness.

The truth is that you are solely responsible for your happiness, so stop holding others accountable. Stop holding people responsible for what happened in the past. Stop being mad at the world. Stop acting like a victim.
When life becomes difficult, don’t expect others to constantly pick you up when you fall. Don’t rely on others to keep you smiling all the time. Don’t rely on others to make you happy all of the time – not your family, friends, or significant other. The only person standing in your way of happiness is you.

There will always be people in our lives who cause us pain or grief. There will always be those who try to bring us down. There will always be those who want us to fail. There will also be people who make us happy. There will always be people who will make an effort to help us. There will always be people who will go to any length to make us laugh when we are in need.
But, regardless of what others say or do, we are ultimately responsible for deciding whether or not we want to be happy again. Our greatest battle is with ourselves. Every battle won and lost will be decided by the simple act of mind over matter.

So, try to see the positive aspects of life. Try to notice and appreciate the little things. Find out what sets your soul on fire. And when you do, remember what it is and hold it close to your heart.
