    1. Most welcome Una. Naturopathy focuses on the underlying cause of a condition and applies treatments that work in alliance with the natural healing mechanisms of the body rather than against them. A naturopath not only treats the health challenge but also provides clear strategies to patients on how to empower and improve their life by minimising illnesses from the outset.

  3. These are great tips which, I believe, will benefit us all during the lockdown and the after effects of our interrupted lifestyles. I’ve put on at least a stone in weight since the virus hit us. Will try the cloves in tea – I’ve never heard of that one.
    Thank you! 🙂

    1. Try and let me know if it worked for you :). Some research has suggested that compounds in herbs and supplements can enhance immunity. Garlic, astragalus, milk thistle, ginseng, green tea, black cumin, and licorice are just a few herbs that have been reported to have immune boosting benefits.

      1. I will, Garima. I was interested in the use of cloves because I have a pulmonary condition. I’ll get some and let you know, after using for a while, if it helps. ☺

    1. The “magic bullet” approach to the treatment and “cure” of disease is anathema to the naturopath. The “pill for every ill” is an optimistic but unrealistic concept. Ultimately, the simple fact is that our level of wellness is, to a very large extent, dependent upon our state of mind, how we choose to live, the level of chronic stress that we experience, our environment, and our attitudes.

Recognising this, the naturopath works with the patient in setting goals toward a lifestyle that is health-promoting. This may mean changes in diet, occupation, environment or exercise routines whenever possible or appropriate. Contrary to popular misconception, a naturopath does not “just give vitamins”! The fields of influence that naturopathy addresses go beyond the patient as an individual, into social, economic or ecological issues, nurturing a positive, responsible attitude towards self and others, since true health cannot be anything but a shared experience.

      1. I agree that depends on the choice of living we make. For creating a difference in life for better, one must adopt a healthy regime.
Agree with the last line as well. 👍😊🌻

  5. Any tips for hayfever? Never knew dining water before bed lessened chances of cardiac arrest!

    1. Cod liver oil and Fenugreek are two great hay fever remedies that help the mucus membrane to be a little less reactive. Echinacea and Vitamin D are main immune mediators that help to settle the bodies hypersensitivity to its environment.

  7. Great list! My dad did most of these things and lived a very long age. Always wondered why he chopped and ate raw garlic when I was younger. He also started each day by drinking a glass of hot water.

    1. Drinking warm water is a good habit. Drinking a warm glass of water in the morning helps your body flush out toxins. The warm water breaks down the food in your tummy and keeps your digestive system in fine fettle. When the toxins are flushed out, it improves your blood circulation as well.

    1. Naturopathy doctors also recommend performing breathing exercise for at least 5 minutes before bedtime. It helps increase the secretion of melatonin that reduces anxiety and promotes hormone balance. Make a habit of sleeping without a pillow to strengthen your heart and brain.
