Negative self-talk is that little voice inside your head telling you that you can’t do it. These self-defeating thoughts are not only inaccurate, they limit your potential. Take control of your negative self-talk, turn it into positive affirmation, and start reaching your goals!
Here are some of the ways in which you can stop the negative self talk and start your day right :
- Start a Morning ritual – Self reiki, compliment yourself, positive set-up for the day, whatever contributes to your general well being.
- Start Small – Don’t try to change a lifetime of negative thinking all at once. Start small. Pay attention to how you view the world in general.
- First thought – Observe you first thought in the morning – is it positive or negative? Think of positive thoughts and affirmations about yourself before sleeping at night and you will be thinking the same things in the morning when you wake up.
- Connect with your Energy – Take the time to connect to universal energy. Your day will be so much better. It does not have to be a long process.
- Values & Beliefs – Write down you values and beliefs on a notepad and keep it near you bed side or work table. Review them every morning. Send some good vibes to those you know to be in need or just ask the universe to direct some energy to where it is needed.
- Triggers – Use some symbols, talismans to change negative thoughts to positive throughout your day.
Remember – just because a thought or image pops in your head quickly, doesn’t mean it is accurate or even realistic. Catch and challenge these pesky automatic thoughts, they are sneaky and quick!
Inspired !! 😊☺️

Glad. Learn to notice when you’re being self-critical so you can begin to stop. For example, notice when you say things to yourself that you wouldn’t say to a good friend or a child.

Thank you. If you find yourself engaging in negative self-talk, it helps to contain the damage that a critical inner voice can cause by only allowing it to criticize certain things in your life, or be negative for only an hour in your day. This puts a limit on how much negativity can come from the situation.

When our inner critic is at its worst, it can sound like our worst enemy. Often we’ll say things to ourselves in our heads that we’d never say to a friend. Why not reverse this and–when you catch yourself speaking negatively in your head–make it a point to imagine yourself saying this to a treasured friend. If you know you wouldn’t say it this way, think of how you’d share your thoughts with a good friend or what you’d like a good friend to say to you. This is a great way to shift your self-talk in general.

Good day. I have devoted this year to making small changes like, getting back to my morning ritual, i journal in the morning ans before bed. I listen to motivational speakers at least twice a day and I am taking one day at a time to get healthy.
Thank you for the encouragement💖

Negative self-talk can affect us in some pretty damaging ways. Studies have linked negative self-talk with higher levels of stress and lower levels of self-esteem. This can lead to decreased motivation as well as greater feelings of helplessness. This type of critical inner dialogue has even been linked to depression, so it’s definitely something to fix.

The musings of your negative self-talk, or “inner critic,” may sound a lot like a critical parent or friend from your past. It can follow the path of typical cognitive distortions: catastrophizing, blaming, and the like. Basically, negative self-talk is any inner dialogue you have with yourself that may be limiting your ability to believe in yourself and your own abilities, and reach your potential. It is any thought that diminishes you and your ability to make positive changes in your life or your confidence in your ability to do so.

Excellent post …so much of negative talk in our heads come from what we hear others say about us and if it i negative then seeds of doubt are planted in our heads, so it is good to do this process that you posted to combat negative thoughts.

The thing with negative self-talk is this: Our thoughts race at a hundred miles an hour, jumping uncontrollably from one self-diminishing thought to the next without consciously registering as such. Think about it. If someone else was putting you down the way you put down yourself, your senses would immediately awaken, and you would probably defend yourself. However, with negative self-talk, there is no such self-defense mechanism. All this negativity is blindly absorbed and is therefore all the more toxic to our lives and particularly the relationship we have with ourselves.

Not always some time you don’t realize how much negativity has been imposed until you walk a way from a situation.

I didn’t realize that until I walked away from my first marriage …there were tapes in my head that took a while to learn to work through

Yes, those tapes are known as schemas in psychology. Habitual thinking to be more precise. But do you know what’s the best part of these schemas? With little effort you can change them. Yes, build the life we want. Haven’t you heard that people who dreams are the ones who actually change their reality. It’s changing the schemas. So think on my friend.
