Simple Ways to Fall Asleep

Poor sleep is nothing to yawn at—it takes a toll on everything from your job performance and sex life to overall health. Here, real ways to get the zzz’s you need.

  • Curl your toes, hold for a few seconds, then uncurl. Repeat this movement to help relax your mind and body.
  • Cherry juice is rich in melatonin and is some studies have helped adults with insomnia.
  • Do an activity or a ritual you do only when you are ready to go to sleep. This will help program your mind and body to fall asleep.
  • Thank of what you didn’t in the morning and work your way chronologically remembering the rest of your day. Sometimes the mental effort of remembering makes your sleepy.
  • Listen to White Noise. Do anxious thoughts keep your awake? Block them our by listening of white noise. You can download audio files or download phone apps.
  • Listen to sleep hypnosis podcasts. Videos or audio. Perfect if you are prone to the power of suggestion. As you listen o the sound of my voice, your body is going to completely relax.
  • Rub your belly. Starting at the navel, run your belly in bigger and bigger circles clockwise and then smaller and smaller counter clockwise. Repeat.
  • Complete block out all light and sound. You might be sensitive to light or sound and not know it.
  • Avoid alcohol or caffeine before bed time.
  • Establish a regular waking/sleeping time.
  • Exercise regularly.
