Rise and shine, sleepyhead! Today’s the day you start taking steps to becoming a morning person. I know it’s hard to drag yourself out of bed when that comfy cool pillow is hugging your face, but, as they say, the early bird gets the worm. That’s not all the early bird gets, either.
Here are few ways in which you can start to become a morning person today 🙂
- Don’t Eat Late – Don’t eat too much before you go to sleep (and don’t eat after 2 hours before you go to sleep).
- Set An Alarm – Put the alarm across the room. No snooze.
- Plan your Morning Routine – So you don’t forget important things.
- Get Enough Sleep – 7-9 hours sleep is enough.
- Drink Milk Before you go to Sleep – It is relaxing.
- Turn off Your Phone – So that you won’t get distracted.
- Pack & Prepare everything a night Before – Your lunch, clothes, and stuff for school work.
- Relax & Take your Time – Have a breakfast or a coffee. Read a newspaper or a book.
- Leave your House on Time – Have fun at Work.

It’s my favourite time of the day. I find a good morning routine sets the stage for the rest of the day. Coffee, breakfast, the sunrise and the quiet of a waking village, is always an inspirational way to start the day.

Try Sun salutations if you can. The lungs, digestive system, as well as muscles and joints will all benefit from practicing Sun Salutations. This practice also increases the vital energy of prana in your body, which helps remove energy blockages. A series of Sun Salutations can, in itself, be a nice cardiovascular exercise benefitting the whole body.

I’ve always had a stretching routine in my mornings that include some of the movements in the Sun Salutation. Will consider doing this properly.

I can work till 2a.m at night but getting up early is very difficult for me. Can you please tell me how to overcome this… Me too want to get up at 4-5 a.m

It’s all about changing your sleep cycle. Do some cardio exercise in the evenings. This should exhaust you and make you sleep. Try it 🙂

I do it.But I do in the morning 8 a.m…I never become exhausted at night, I become exhausted before getting up from bed.

Thoughts are very powerful. Start affirming and believing silently that you are sleepy. Also, deep breathes and meditation around the time you want to sleep.

Sounds great but I’m NOT a morning person. I’m a mid-afternoon person. Is OK. I have to get up early for work but I’m not alert till after my first break in the AM. Thank God for morning people. Someone has to be alert on the road in the morning. hehehehe

Yes indeed.! Becoming a morning person can only work if you wake up and go to bed early every day of the week. Yes, that means staying up late every weekend could be a problem. It’s called social jetlag.

Good post. I like to go for a run in the morning… Especially since it’s summer and the rest of the day is very hot! Its a great way to tackle the rest of the day, having completed a certain goal makes you look forward to the rest of the day positively.

Hi Aidan, One of the most common reasons cited is that when you exercise in the morning, you get your workout out of the way. In fact, a morning workout is a lot like breakfast in that it gets your metabolism going. Simply put, you burn more calories all day long just from the sheer fact of exercising in the morning.

I agree with you Cindy. The morning may be the most important part of your day. It sets the tone and the tempo of your daily life. If you wake up late and rush through your morning, the day will likely feel rushed and hurried. But if you take your time and started the day with accomplishments the day will follow suit.

Morning is also my favorite time of day! I like to get things done before other people wake up and ruin the beautiful silence lol. I like to use the sleep cycle app. It sets a time period for you to wake up and monitors your sleep to pick the best time to sound its alarm.. which isn’t alarming

If you are thankful and grateful every morning as you woke up, happiness would come out within you. Every new morning gives you the chance to learn, to strive and to be better than you were the day before. The beauty of the morning is wasted on those who sleep through it. Don’t be like them.

Before going to sleep tonight, tell your brain to wake you up at a particular time and then not let you sleep again. Also drink a lot of water and electrolytes. Feeling lazy in the morning could be a sign of dehydration.

I am a total morning person…between 6 am and noon I do all my creative (and sometimes mundane) work. Lunch and a nap, afterward a second laid back day.

I am a morning person, and I enjoy completing tasks early in my day. Now retired after 40 years of teaching, I still appreciate my morning time: walking, reading devotions and prayer, and writing.

That Is wonderful. Without mental stimulation dendrites, connections between brain neurons that keep information flowing, shrink or disappear altogether. An active life increases dendrite networks and also increase the brain’s regenerating capacity, known as plasticity.

I got habituated due my school timings 700 am sharp
It was bit troublesome during my childhood days with 3 -4 attempts of my mother trying to wake me up …to get me prepared for school …still I used to doze in the school bus untill my school arrived.

Now I am habituated to wake up early in the morning. ..The first thing I do is to wash my face with water and stand in the window

..collecting flowers for prayer is the most beautiful thing I feel …watching nature and hearing the voices of nature is a most wonderful experience you can have.
