In a culture obsessed with lust,
Where shiny things we often trust,
There lies a person, kind and true,
Seeking love, like me and you.
Lust may be cliché and dull,
Empty, transparent, like a lull,
Society tells us what to chase,
To possess, but not to embrace.
Our hearts long for something more,
Yet we mistake what our eyes adore,
Dangerous it is, to lose our way,
To let desires lead us astray.
Humanity and presence we forsake,
As we do not fully partake,
We taste, but do not savor slow,
Touch, but don’t feel deep below.
In conversations, we disconnect,
Forgetting what it means to connect,
But dear friend, fear not this plight,
Deeper connections are still in sight.
Suppress not your genuine need,
For experiences that make hearts bleed,
Envy not those chasing fleeting fire,
That leads to emptiness and desire.
Look within, find true nourishment,
In someone’s essence, their sentiment,
Their nostalgia, hopes, and emotions too,
Beauty lies in the authentic you.
Seek a connection, timeless and strong,
Intense, grounding, where hearts belong,
Go beyond the surface, don’t let it fade,
Find connection that will never evade.
For in these moments, fleeting as they be,
Beauty can be forever, for you and me.
Hope you liked the poem.
