What I Wish I Had Known As A Young Writer: Writing Is A Personal Journey To Improvement. As opposed to being a sport, writing is an exercise.

Like any other career, the more you stick with it, the more you learn about the material. After working in online content production and marketing for a time, I’ve come to this realisation. Writing is an exercise, not a contest. The key to being self-driven is to treat writing like exercise. Which is extremely advantageous for your quest for personal development. Your chances of surviving are better and your capacity for growth is greater if you are more self-driven. Pushing is uncommon in non-self-driven people. Furthermore, growth is not feasible without a push. Unfortunately, this is how many authors view it. They thus encounter issues and challenges linked to such viewpoint.
If your writing is not improving, it’s probably because you view it as a form of rivalry. that you are competing with another author. that you must publish two things in order to surpass someone who publishes one every day. That is a profoundly flawed strategy for growth. When competition serves as the motivation for an action, growth is challenging. The key to personal development is still being self-driven. Be independent.
An Assurance Against Discouragement – The fact that it lessens the impact of failure is another significant advantage of writing from a workout viewpoint. You’ll undoubtedly experience moments during your journey when you feel like a failure. In the workplace, failure is a given. You are not alone if you are going through one; we have all been there before and will all soon experience something else similar. Though it could be disastrous to feel inadequate. After a particular publication rejected my work and one day threatened to terminate my writing contract if I continued to submit such kinds of draughts, I went into a depressive episode. For a good 14 days, I actually suffered from depression. The encounter wasn’t pleasant. The exercise mentality is quite helpful in this situation.
Falling along the way won’t have a significant psychological impact if you approach writing as exercise. You’ll take it for granted, stand up, dust your clothing, and continue jogging. In retrospect, I perceived writing as a contest. I aspired to publish in a journal like a certain author. I had some success. Some people fell short. The ones that didn’t work absolutely destroyed me. I gave up writing for almost 30 days in a row because I was depressed. This went on until I realised that it is exceedingly unlikely that you will ever become discouraged if you approach writing as an exercise rather than a contest. The best resistance to discouragement comes from a genuine drive to action.
Never forget – The key to consistency and personal progress in writing is to approach it as a personal journey. If your writing isn’t improving, it’s likely that your competitive mindset is sabotaging your prospects of improvement. that you must follow another author’s example or publish in the same journal as them. Everything is focused at comparing you to them and your achievements to theirs. Instead of acting like someone else, act like you. Even in your darkest states, you will never fail at being yourself. You may fail at everything else. Keep in mind that writing is personal.
Hello Everyone, finally published my new book “Focus”. In this book, I took a poetic licence in considering the spiritual aspect of focus, which has rarely been done. Other books focus on the practical aspect and tell you to do this and that, but in my book, I discuss how we can find focus within ourselves without relying on an action-oriented approach. Any purchases or KDP reads will be greatly appreciated. If you like my books, do leave a review. Here’s my author page on Amazon – https://amzn.eu/d/aKbYysx
