It tells you that you are nothing, that no one cares about you, and that things won’t get better.

Until you give in and let the demons of depression take control, a never-ending stream of negative thoughts will play continuously in your head. It instructs you to resume sleeping. Leave the bed alone. Neglect both you and others around you. Pull back, then pull back again. Your mind is clouded by its lies, which feed your brain nothing but hopelessness. You will always feel alone, no matter how many people you have around you. You won’t be able to mask your internal suffering no matter how much cosmetics you apply. On the outer, you can contour, paint a new face, and conceal flaws, but there is no internal cure for your unhappiness.
Even if you share pictures of your life as being full with abundance and fulfilment, you will still be lacking. You’ll experience all of your errors and tragedies oozing through every pore in your body, engulfing you in a sea of misery and devastation. Your gut will get larger as a result of all the guilt, mocking you in the mirror. You’ll feel nasty inside. Your mind is a black hole that swirls and eats your bliss alive; you are hollow. Although the lies that depression tells your brain are incredibly unpleasant, keep in mind that they are also lies. You are not alone, even though a buddy lately seems like a faraway idea and loneliness is all around you.
Allowing human attachment and letting others through your mental barriers may seem impossible. Nobody else can perceive the internal conflict you’re going through. Even if you try to run away, despair will find you. A depressed, broken individual on the west coast is still going to be depressed, broken, and broken in another country whether they are on the east coast. No matter how much you want to escape what is still remaining in your core, you will never be able to change the environment. You can’t hide from your thinking or yourself. The mind is a sophisticated organ that processes the information you give it, stores it, loops it, and then uses it.
So feed it beauty and positivity. Recovery is a personal endeavour. You can get some temporary relief from your problems, but the true path to happiness lies deep within you. You must pause and take a breath before continuing. Self-love and care are essential. Put up the effort you know is there. The lies that despair tells your brain can only be disregarded. You are significant. You are a unique individual. You’re cherished. Although it may not feel good right now, moments pass quickly, and everything will be fine. You have overcome depression, and it has not prevailed over you.
Listening to your heart while making choices can mean different things to different people. For some, it means tapping into their emotions and intuition to guide their decision-making process. For others, it means connecting with a higher power or spiritual force to seek guidance and clarity. Regardless of the interpretation, the idea is to trust your gut and follow your inner guidance when faced with tough decisions. This can lead to more authentic and fulfilling choices, as well as a deeper connection with oneself and the world around us. This book tells you how. “You will always feel alone, no matter how many people you have around you.” Yes, to be aware these are feelings/thoughts only (conditioned mind) puts them in perspective.

This post just described my life the past few years …. I did move Provinces though not to get away from the situation but from the possibility of being attacked for the sonctens of websites online about me. Yes, recovery is very personal and something I have been working on for some time now and it is getting easier. Mindfulness has been a great tool for me… I still have some anger, it is a hard one to get rid of…
BTW, I am interested in your book but it isn’t available for me here in Canada yet. When it is, I will get it.
Thank you for your insighful posts!

I am sorry for what happened to you Stella. I hope you find the courage to forgive everyone; not for them but for your own mental health and peace.

Does the brain control you or do you control your brain?
If it controls you then it actually named itself! It picked a pretty dull name if it did

I believe that most people unconsciously “mask their internal suffering;” yet, I think that a depressed individual may be more aware and self-conscious about the mask he or she projects, as well as the dichotomy between the inner person and the persona. Additionally, I believe that most people cannot “perceive the internal conflict that others go through;” perhaps, because of self-absorption, inability to be present for the other, or preoccupation with one’s own problems. Good advice to transcend the negativity of the mind: “So feed it beauty and positivity,” as you mentioned. I think that finding some time to be in nature is of great benefit to the soul.

Nature helps us in grounding our emotions and feelings. That’s ground zero quite literally. When we calm our ego minds, the universe speaks through us.
